A weird coincidence

Ok, so I am involved in the promotion of this telco business here in the Philippines. To promote the business of the company, we are holding events almost practically everywhere in this country. To draw large crowds we are bringing popular bands, actors, actresses, etc. We bring them to radio stations for interviews, we air mech plugs, we parade (motorcade) them around. The works!
I was so involved in this thing lately that every time I post something here at Orble, I was either going to or coming from one of these events.
In fact, it was because of something that happened in one of these events that I am writing this post.
I was in the middle of an event, right? The local band has just finished its first set and the estimate was that we already had several thousands of spectators in attendance.
So, we started a number of games that, while they were supposed to be fun, were designed to etch the name of the telco brand we were promoting in the minds of the people gathered around.
We were giving away prizes in cash and in kinds and, as a finale, we will bring in Katya Santos, a sexy actress, in person, to grace the occasion. It was a promotional gimmick and in this part of the world, it works! Katya has already appeared in a number of steamy movies and she was drawing in the crowds.
Her entourage arrived in town early due to limited flight schedules. We told somebody to bring them to a nice out of town restaurant where we joined them for lunch and immediately whisked her away to a hotel where she was to stay and have the much needed rest.
It was not the time to bring her on the stage yet. We were still holding games and giving away prizes...
Amidst the din and all the excitements, a guy who looked intelligent enough talked to me from behind and asked me if I was the one running the show. It was normal. I go all over the country and representatives of this telco, always a different guy or gal, would pop up and ask a few questions .
But that already happened in this event, before the start of the activities. Two women came up to me and introduced themselves as the representatives of the company. They left after a brief chat to find a better place to watch what was slated for the night.
Still, I answered the guy in the positive thinking that he was a superior of the women who came earlier. But after confirming that I was the one orchestrating the event, the guy passed me on to this rather tipsy individual who was asking some rather incoherent questions.
Maybe he was just pretending to be drunk. His right hand was holding a wine glass that has what looked like a white wine in it, and his left hand was holding a lighted cigarette above his head - like he was holding an umbrella. There was about a third of an inch of ash that was threatening to fall to the person standing next to his left hand.
The man was asking a lot of questions in his drunken-like state that some of the security personnel who were tasked to secure the event sidled up to us ready for any eventuality. I signaled to them that it was okay. I was careful not to give them the wrong impression. We were there to promote a product and give the audience some fun. I didn't want to start a commotion and ruin my own event.
From the way we dressed the venue with all those banners, streamers and tents each shouting (actually printed in big, bold letters) the brand name and the theme of the festivity, it was clear that we were doing a sponsored event.
As an event sponsored by a company that wants to promote its product, all the prizes being given away were from that company promoting the product. But this guy was asking about betting (as in gambling) and some rather crazy questions that obviously were out-of-sync with what was happening on stage!
Weird.
Yap, that was weird! But despite the fact that I have to ensure that everything goes as planned that night, that I have to address the concerns of the hosts on stage, the production assistants, the security personnel, the sound system people, etc.,etc... the questions of the guy who was holding his lighted cigarette like an umbrella (this time, the ash has already fallen on the shoulder of the person next to him – who didn't notice it) didn't bother me.
Instead, it reminded me of the comments of my one and only buddy (Fobzy) in Orble! If you go back a few posts (I think it was the one about landing a plane) where he had a comment, you'll know what I mean.
As the one responsible for the success of the event that night, I cannot allow anybody to diverge from the planned activities and lose the interest of the crowd. I had to be constantly in control. So, without offending the man, I started to disengage from the conversation.
But then, this guy, who was still holding his cigarette and wine glass the way he was holding them the whole time (but now with his left forefinger held away from the light of the cigarette), out of nowhere, without anybody asking about it, blurted out that he was an Australian!
Now, what was that all about? Orble is based in Australia and...
Nah, it was probably just a coincidence...
Still, the whole island where this event was happening is where many of the landed gentry of this country are based and... but then, what are the chances that...
Nope, can't delve on that. I had a show to run.
But boy, where did that guy come from?

Uh, let's just ignore that plastic chair, shall we? The old woman and the young girl were both game contestants. And yeah, the kid scratching his head behind the old woman is a 9 yr old boy! We were very open that way. Twas all just for fun! They were all supposed to do the same thing. They were to mimic a teenage girl asking her parent's forgiveness for being pregnant out of wedlock.
